Dell EMC ECS
Dell EMC ECS (Elastic Cloud Storage) is a highly scalable object storage solution designed for modern enterprises. It offers robust data protection features, including encryption with external key management integration, ensuring the security and integrity of stored data. With its flexible deployment options, comprehensive management capabilities, and reliable performance, ECS empowers organizations to efficiently store, manage, and analyze vast amounts of unstructured data across distributed environments.
To enhance security, ECS supports the KMIP protocol to interface with external key managers for the storage of the top-level Key Encrypting Keys (KEKs). In the Dell ECS 3.8.x Administration Guide, Thales’ CipherTrust Manager (CM) enterprise key manager is stated to be a supported external key manager. This document is provides additonal instruction on how to integrate the two products beyond what can be found in the ECS Administration Guide.
